We live in a time when traditional journalism is being severely challenged. From fake news ads purchased by other governments to sway U.S. elections and newsrooms increasingly trading live reporters and copy editors for computer programs to finish and edit articles, the news industry is experiencing an unprecedented sea change. How will news agencies adapt to a totally new digital age? How will this adaptation affect the way we consume news in the future?
About the Speaker:
Amanda Irwin is a 15-year veteran journalist from the United States in newspaper,magazines and radio. Her work has exposed the repercussions of a major water contamination at a military base, social inequalities in education, how artists use their talents, food insecurity issues and the ways people express their deeply-held beliefs. In China, Amanda has taught English at Central China Normal University and now at Maple Leaf School. She’s also been a featured speaker at a TEDx event and taught a Global Journalism course at Wuhan University.
