From August 18 to August 25, 2019, 43 teachers and students from Wuhan University participated in the 10th International Summer Seminar on Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing in Moscow, Russia. The activity was jointly organized by Wuhan University, Tongji University, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography and the Siberia State University of Geosystem and Technology. The event was held at Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, which has a history of 240 years. The cooperation has been developing for ten years and now forms a mature cooperation and exchange mechanism, providing a platform for hundreds of students to communicate with experts and students from other countries. This summer, more than 50 teachers and students gathered at Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography to attend the 2019 International Summer Seminar on Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing.
The Summer Seminar includes three courses: Remote Sensing Principles and Applications, Urban Impermeable Surface Extraction Using Remote Sensing Images and Radiation Correction and Image Processing of Multi-spectral UAV Images. These courses were presented by Prof. Qiming Zhou from Hong Kong Baptist University, Prof. Zhenfeng Shao from Wuhan University and Prof. Anna Brook from Haifa University in Israel. By attending lectures and communicating with professors face to face, students maximized their efficiency over the summer. Students also visited the history museum of Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, the Russian National Economic Museum, and the Moscow River.
In addition, Prof. Zhenfeng Shao, Director Lin Guan from Wuhan University, and the President of Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography discussed further cooperation. They exchanged their views and reached consensus on an academic degree project and scientific research cooperation between the two universities. Professor Liangpei Zhang, Professor Qiangqiang Yuan, Professor Lei Shi and other experts and scholars who participated in this seminar also discussed with their colleagues.
