On September 9, 2019, Prof. Deren Li and a team of experts, including Prof. Bisheng Yang, Prof. Mi Wang, and Prof. Jun Pan, attended the 57th Photogrammetric Week held at the University of Stuttgart. The topics of the conference ranged from positioning and navigation, automatic driving, mobile mapping to deep learning. Nearly 300 scholars and practitioners from more than 50 countries and regions attended the conference.
At the conference, Prof. Bisheng Yang was granted the Carl Pulfrich Award for his contribution to the advancement of point cloud processing. Prof. Yang proposed and established a theory of intelligent information extraction and 3D level of detail modeling from ubiquitous point clouds. The Carl Pulfrich Award was established in memory of Dr. Carl Pulfrich, father of stereo-photogrammetry, who led the design team constructing Carl Zeiss's first stereo-photogrammetric instrument. Prof. Bisheng Yang is the only scholar who won this award at the Photogrammetric Week this year, and only the second Chinese scholar to win this award.
On September 10th, the Teachers' day in China, Prof. Deren Li prepared a bunch flowers for Prof. Ackermann from the University of Stuttgart and gave his best wishes to his previous teacher. Both of them attended the Photogrammetric Week.
