(Correspondent: Lite Shi) The 11th International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE11) was held in Florence, Italy, from 24 to 27 September 2019. Academician Deren Li, Professor Yixuan Zhu, Professor Xianfeng Huang, and Professor Zhang Fan attended the meeting.
On September 26, 2019, Academician Deren Li presented an academic report entitled "AI in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing for Digital Earth", introducing the role of AI in photogrammetry and remote sensing in promoting the development of Digital Earth.
On September 27th, academician Deren Li also delivered an academic report entitled "Digital Cultural Heritage for the Belt and Road", and discussed the protection of digital cultural heritage under the "The Belt and Road Initiative". He also introduced achievements made by Wuhan University in the protection of digital cultural heritage.
On the same day, Professor Xianfeng Huang presented an academic report entitled “A Web Based Lightweight Fully Automatic Cultural Heritage 3D Modeling and Visualization System” at the conference. This web-based lightweight automatic cultural relics 3D modeling and visualization system Get3d, demonstrates the technology for automatic reconstruction of 3D models, so that cultural relics workers can collect and model data.
During the meeting, the team of Wuhan University led by Academician Deren Li demonstrated the results of the three-dimensional model of Florence Cultural Heritage established by photography to international experts drawing much attention from attendees. The 2019 International Digital Earth Series Conference, sponsored by China was the 20th anniversary convening of this meeting. The conference was held in the city of Florence, located in central Italy, a world famous art capital and European cultural center.
The theme of this session was "Digital Earth Drives Social Transition". The conference organized invited reports, guest dialogues, plenary meetings, seminars, exhibitions, and parallel branch meetings. The Conference held anniversary celebrations to mark this important milestone. The convening of this conference will promote China's scientific and technological participation in the wave of Digital Earth-driven social transformation.
The International Symposium on Digital Earth is one of the series of international conferences sponsored by the Digital Earth Society. It aims to build an important academic position in the field of Digital Earth, strengthen international academic exchanges, and promote the development of Digital Earth science.
Since the first International Digital Earth Conference was held in Beijing in 1999, 10 International Digital Earth Conferences have been successfully held in China, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan, the United States, Australia, and Malaysia.
