The International Workshop on

“Advances in Spatial Statistics and Intelligence”

Wuahan, Hubei, China

June 22-23, 2010

To promote international collaboration in spatial statistics and intelligence analysis across disciplines, the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing at Wuhan University will host an International Workshop on Advances in Spatial Statistics and Intelligence on June 22-23, 2010 in Wuhan, China. The workshop is co-sponsored by the International Collaborative Research Center for Geocomputation and Studies at Wuhan University, the Key Lab of Poyang Wetland and Watershed Research at Jiangxi Normal University, the Center for Computational Science and Engineering at Peking University, the GeoDa Center at the Arizona State University, China Data Center at the University of Michigan, Central Michigan University Research Corporation.

With the rapid development of geographic information science and technology in recent years, increasing efforts have been devoted to spatial statistics and modeling. The focus of research and development has been on spatial intelligence for spatial data integration, spatial analysis, and decision support, as well as their applications in such areas as population, public health, environment, business, regional development, and humanity studies.

The Workshop has invited Professor Luc Anselin, a leading scholar in Spatial Statistics, as well as scholars from the U.S. and Chinese institutions. The workshop will focus on the current development of spatial statistics, modeling and spatial intelligence (including the introduction to GeoDa, Alteryx, StatGL, and China Geo-Explorer). The workshop will discuss how to apply spatial theories, methodology and technology in environment, population, economy, public health, regional development, and humanity studies. Participants will also discuss further collaborations.

We expect about 30-40 workshop participants from universities, research institutions, and government agencies within and outside of China. Please send your abstract toassi2010@umich.eduandlilyshi@lmars.whu.edu.cnby April 30, 2010 if you would like to make a presentation at the meeting.
