Dr. Zhenfeng Shao is a professor in the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing (LIESMARS) at Wuhan University. His research interest mainly focuses on urban remote sensing applications. The specific research directions include high-resolution remote sensing image processing and analysis, key technologies and applications from digital cities to smart cities and sponge cities.

He has published more than 100 academic papers, including 42 SCI-indexed and 109 EI-indexed. Moreover, he has published a book o Urban Remote Sensing", which is has been included in curriculum of more than 30 universities. It has an authorization of 31 invention patents and 11 software copyrights.

In 2017, he was selected as a leading talent in science and technology innovation in the "Millions of Plan" group. In 2016, he was selected as the "Young and Middle-aged Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talent" and "National Excellent Science and Technology Employee" by the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2015, he was selected as a "Special Professor of Wuhan University" and a "Morning Light Plan" of Wuhan. In 2013, he was selected as the "Jieqing Talent" program of the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province. In 2012, he was selected as a "New Century Excellent Talent" from the Ministry of Education and a young scholar at Wuhan University.

In 2018, he won the first prize award of Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC). One of his papers was awarded as the best paper in the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analysis in 2018. He also won the first prize Award of China Association for Geographic Information System (CAGIS) in 2017; and won the Second prize of National Technology Progress Award in China in 2015. In 2014, he won the Talbert Abrams Award in the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing in USA. In 2012, he won the first prize award of Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC). In 2005, he won the Hubei Provincial Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award.
