First meeting of the 7th Academic Committee of LIESMARS

On the morning of October 7, 2021, the first meeting of the 7th academic committee of the State Key Laboratory of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing Information Engineering (LIESMARS) was held in the lecture hall of the Xinghu Building in Wuhan University. Professor Chen, Ruizhi, director of the laboratory, made the 2021 director’s work report, introducing the laboratory and the direction of the LIESMARS within the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan”. Professor Zhang, Guo, Associate Professor Ma, Yingying, Professor Shao, Zhenfeng, Professor Yang, Bisheng and Professor Chen, Liang introduced the different research directions of LIESMARS. Professor Wu, Huayi, deputy director of the laboratory, reported to the Academic Committee on the application and preliminary evaluation of the 2021 Laboratory Open Fund. After the vote of the Academic Committee, a total of 20 projects have received funding from this year’s Open Fund.

Academic committee members, consultants, participating leaders and experts affirmed the achievements of the laboratory and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on the future development of the laboratory. Experts agree that the laboratory should firmly grasp the major needs of the country, take root in the characteristics of the discipline, carry forward the scientific spirit, focus on strengthening basic research and theoretical breakthroughs, encourage young scholars to explore freely based on their interests, further sort out and refine the development planning direction, goals and measures of the laboratory’s “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan”,.
