Prof. Huayi WU elected as a member of the 2nd Advisory Board of the UN-GGIM Academic Network

Recently, the UN-GGIM-Academic Network (UN-GGIM Academic Network) held its second advisory board election, and Prof. Wu Huayi, the deputy director of the laboratory, was re-elected as a member after nominated by the election committee and voted by all members.

The United Nations initiative on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) aims to establish the development of global geospatial information and to promote the use of geospatial information.UN-GGIM plays a leading role in addressing key global challenges. It is the highest level intergovernmental consultative mechanism in the field of global geospatial information, providing an international platform for liaison and coordination among Member States and between Member States and international organizations. The main mission of the United Nations Academic Network on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM Academic Network) is to promote global geographic information data and applications and to provide technical and human resources support for the goals of UNGGIM. The International Institute of Geospatial Information Science of Wuhan University, led by the laboratory, is the first member of this global academic network.


Professor Huayi WU, currently Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Mapping and Remote Sensing Information Engineering, has long been engaged in talent training and scientific research in the theoretical and applied fields of GIS. This election will further strengthen the external international cooperation and communication of the laboratory. It will further strengthen LIESMARS’ international cooperations and allow for more international graduate training programs led by the laboratory, so to better serve the application geographic information around the world.
